About Us
St. Andrew’s High School is
an Anglican Mission School that was established in Nuku’alofa 1905 by the late Bishop Alfred Willis during his service in the Kingdom of Tonga.
A motto established by Willis for the school “Love, Truth and Peace” has always been a constant vision for the school to develop its students towards excellence not only academically but to embed these simple but powerful principles within the young men and women produced by the mission.
The school administration is overlooked by a School Management Committee which consists of members appointed from stakeholders of the school mainly the Church, Parents Teachers Association the Ex-Students Association and is led by an appointed Chairperson by the Arch-Bishop of the Diocese. St. Andrew’s High School is a member school of Diocese of Polynesia School Board.
The school is located at Tonga’s Central Business District and has been serving as an Educational Institute not only for many of the residents in the town area but across the island of Tongatapu and to students of all backgrounds, ethnicity and religious beliefs.
Starting 2022 the school will start its minimum class at Form 2 level following initiatives from the Government Ministry of Education’s plans for the high schools to start at the level of Form 3 in the year 2023. The school looks forward to establishing a form 7 for the first time within this initiative and the re-opening of its Vocational Learning branch in the coming years.
The school is strongly supported by counterparts and friends over the years. The Diocese of Polynesia and the Anglican Province of New Zealand, Donors and sponsors such as the Hornsby Trust organized by Simon and Rachel Tipping, The Vickery foundation and the schools over 100 years of alumni.
We praise God for all his blessing upon this institution and hope for his guidance and strength to continue to steer St. Andrew’s High School in its mission into the days to come.
